San Gorgonio and San Jacinto

San Gorgonio and San Jacinto

As our plane climbed, we had an unusually clear view east to the San Gorgonio Pass between the San Bernardino Mountains and the San Jacinto Mountains. With San Gorgonio Mountain (11,503') looming almost 9000' above the pass to the north, and Mount San Jacinto (10,834') to the south, this is one of the deepest mountain passes in the lower 48 states. The pass was formed by the San Andreas Fault.
