Aurora at 5:15:03 PM

Both green and red lights are caused by oxygen atom emissions in the upper atmosphere. The atoms are excited by high energy particles (electrons or protons) in the solar wind, and emit light when they return to ground states. Green is the most common color seen in aurora borealis displays. It's exciting to have multiple colors!
