The official name of this guided hiking trip is "Balkans Via Dinarica Hiking." For me personally, it very quickly became the Balkans Bootcamp.

The trip visited six Balkans countries (all part of former Yugoslavia except Albania) in 22 days: a wonderful opportunity to visit this part of south-central Europe, experience the mountain parks, and learn about the complicated history, including the Balkans war of the 1990's.

Our itinerary included one hike in Slovenia; four hikes in Croatia; four hikes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, plus walking tours in Mostar and Sarajevo; one hike from Bosnia and Herzegovina into Montenegro plus rafting on the Tara River along the border between these two countries; two hikes in Montenegro; two hikes in Albania; a day touring in Kosovo; a final day in Albania with a walking tour of the capital, Tirana.

Join me on the trip through my photographic memories!
