New River Gorge Bridge
This distinctive bridge has become the "icon" for New River Gorge National Park, is depicted on the West Virginia state quarter. It is a single-arch steel bridge, the longest in the United States with its 1700' arch. At 876' above the New River, the bridge is also the third highest vehicular bridge in the United States. When completed in 1977, New River Gorge Bridge was the longest single arch bridge in the world, and the highest bridge in the world carrying a regular roadway!
